Theres really nothing to it..

1. Remove all parts, airbox and wiring thats in the way...
2. start on the firewall first.
3. Spray WD-40 liberally on the dirt while using a paintbrush to break it down.
4, Wipe off all the residue and WD-40 with microfiber towel.
5. Repeat.

Alot of nuts and bolts and a few parts were replaced as you can see.

i always thought wd-40 was hazardous around engines

it has strong hydrocarbon solvents which can break down rubber
and its flammable (flash point being around 130F)

some people swear by it but they say it attracts dust

but then again, ive heard of people using just about everything to clean with

cant deny the shine though

(might try it with moms car)

Well it's really good at breaking down dirt, thats for sure !!!!
As far as rubber, probably not good for it, but it sure does clean the hoses well !

Who really cares on a 20 year old car though.. it worked real well cleaning ! For a job like my engine bay, WD-40 works much better than alot of "engine cleaning sprays" or "All Purpose cleaners" out on the market !!
