Looking at buying a civic vx. FE question

Gas Mileage of 1992 Honda Civic
They show 2 VXs and I can't tell what the diff is.

Here the only diff is SIL (Shift indicator light)
Side-by-Side Comparison
I don't think that alone would gain you 5 mpg would it?

The way they do the tests with SILs is weird. I would consider them equal, if I were you. Only thing to look out for is that the cali version will get worse mileage than the non-cali version.

An easy way to tell the difference between the CA & Fed (49 state) VX's is to look at the oxygen sensor located on the top of the exhaust manifold.

The fed -with lean burn activated- will use a 5 wire sensor. The CA version will have a 4 wire sensor and no lean burn. One caveat is that the '92 CA VX had a 5 wire sensor but the ecu for the car didn't utilize it.

So, for the '92 VX's only, the way to tell is to look at the last three characters of the ecu. If it has an "L00" or "L01" it'll be a CA vx w/o lean burn. If it has an "A00" or "A01" then it's the fed version.

Clear as mud?
