Breaking the 60 MPH barrier yay!
Delighted to break the 60 mile per gallon barrier with my 89 Toyota Corolla wagon. Fully loaded for camping vacation, skinny 155/80 tires, new coilovers all the way around lowered a little bit, a glass pack for a muffler, new air filter and recent oil change. Otherwise completely stock. I made this journey as I have found pretty much an exact duplicate for this wagon except it has factory air conditioning tilt wheel I have been making do with passenger seat unbolted for ice chest location powered by cigarette lighter and windows no more than one third down fans plugged into the cigarette lighter and not lowering the windows anymore than 1/3!

Awesome!
I was a big comfused. The title said 60 miles per hour. But I see in your post you meant 60 miles per gallon. Awesome! I think Corolla wagons are awesome!

I was going to let it slide. The mods could change it but I don't know if they ever do.

Sorry so many errors. I was just so excited to report. And I was road tired and was unable to edit and correct it is not a plug-in ice chest and for the redundancy.

We had a 1991 Corolla Wagon. MPG wasn't great with the 3-speed auto! Road trip at 3500 RPM! I think it got around 32 MPG. We also had a 1997 Corolla Sedan with the 4-speed auto, which could get really good MPG. If I remember correctly, I was hypermiling that one into the 50s. I think "Peak Corolla" would be a 1993-1997 Wagon with a manual transmission.

Looks like you did well considering they were automatics. I prefer the five-speed manuals myself
