Adding sway bars to a VX - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum

I know its an "un-VX" thing to do, but is there a way to cheaply and easily add a stock sway bar from another Civic model? I'd like a little bit better cornering feel on my '92 VX hatch, but don't want to pay for the premium race-style sway bars. Just a simple stock one or ones if I do both front and back, but which model Civic and are all the mounting places ready to go on my car?

watch ebay for this set. I've had these for years and love them. My only complaint was it should have been easier to install.

Your car may or may not have the stock mounting points, if it does you could look for the OEM set too. either way the ST set above will fit with no extra parts and handle better.

The VX does NOT have the stock mounting points for a front or rear sway bar.

When I put sways on my VX I had to get front and rear lower control arms with sway bar mounting points. Well, actually I cheated on the rears and made my own mounting point.

But to add OEM sway bars you'll need the proper front lower control arms (the curved part) and rear lower control arms with the threaded mounting tab.

Best to hit up Ebay or your local CraigsList for a good deal. It's totally worth getting even the OEM sways in the car. You can then corner faster and keep that momentum up to save more gas.

that is what I thought.(no OEM mounting points).
The kit I suggested above includes bolt on mount points. No need to change arms. Its a complete package.
You do need to drill 4 holes near the ends of the rear lower cross member. This can lead to tearing if you auto cross but I have been using these on the street for 4 years with no problems.
I think the price was well worth it.

My "new" 1992 VX came with Firestone shocks. The '95 VX we have came with KYB shocks. Those things really impress me over the squishy Firestone ones. Has anyone else used the KYBs? They seem kind of pricey as I search for them new but when you try to push the fender up and down, it doesn't move. Yet the ride is quite nice. The Firestone shocks not only let the fender move up and down, but make watery sounds doing it.

I use KYB GR2s on my Subaru Legacy and love them. A little stiffer than stock (I think 15%), but they still ride very nice and outlive the OEM units.
