Burning garbage
Somehow I managed to see a post by one of my Facebook friends. I do not have any idea if link is useful to anyone, but this is the video: We should burn our garbage like Sweden does.
Sadly, it took a while to track down the URL, and, in the process, I managed to get myself in an argument with a stranger that pretends to know me.
Never argue with a fool?
Here is a related article to that video. Both say that Sweden burns 99% of its garbage for energy. The video says that it is 99% clean, although considering how much garbage they burn, that 1% adds up. The article says that incineration is not as clean as recycling, but reduces carbon emissions over landfills.
Foreign media reports Sweden has run out of garbage and is forced to import - here's what's really going on - Business Insider Nordic

Probably fine as long as it's not located near a populated area. There's a power plant garbage incinerator near Salem, OR. Haven't heard of any problems related to it, nor have I smelt it.

It doesn't seem to be the smartest way to manage waste, even though it might be reasonable for organic residues or infected materials that couldn't be recycled such as tampons and diapers.

You have to know how, see Scott Adams and Mike Cernovich.
TLDR; ask questions and let them hang themselves.
I was once in the one-time Republic of South Vietnam, where our military would take 55 gallon drums of poop organic residues, top them up with gasoline and torch them.

Doctrine was to burn feces with diesel oil when I went through Basic. We filled up an outhouse at what I called C.O.B. Kitty and we talked about needing to burn it out. Romulans ran that base and we always hoped they waited to burn it until we left on mission.
I do not have any idea what they did about sewage at F.O.B. Lagman, where I was assigned for most of my deployment, but they kept a fire going in the garbage pit.
Our main base was Kandahar Airfield. You can read about the poo pond there. They had incinerators near the main gate. I do not know which was worse, garbage smoke or gaseous feces.

I remember an article about a home generator that used electricity to crunch bottles, cans, and whatever else into fuel for generating electricity, and producing more electricity than it used. This may be another article about it: https://www.engadget.com/2007/02/05/...e-into-energy/

I burn all the cardboard and paper junk mail I get sent for home heating.
It at least cuts the amount of trash I have to deal with in half. This is a big deal because I opted out of $30 a month trash service.

BRING started not taking plastic bottles earlier this year. It turns out January the First was when that started.

The Pioneer Recycling mentioned in the article is probably who BRING hands their recyclables off to.
My recycling stream is starting to get constipated. What do you think would work better, a trash compactor or a chipper/shredder? It's getting out of control.

Since I have taken apart wood chipper I don't think they would work well on plastic unless the cutters were razor sharp.

I've settled on putting them in a trash can and using a 5ft 4x4 like a mortar and pestle. Reduced volume ~50%. Then to the land fill.
