Is it just me or have a small minority here not realised that it's a publicity stunt and not an actual vehicle?...

Because they don't want to stand out? I've never understood why people buy red performance cars (or other bright colors). I learned long ago that the one who notices your brightly-painted car is likely to be a traffic cop :-)

I didnt say very brightly colored. Why would you want the only color that camouflages to the road?

Does anyone have the statistics about which colors cars get hit more often by other cars??

edit: btw i have a silver car, its not brighly color but it doesnt blend into the road like the darker shades of grey.

Ah, you must be one of the small minority who thinks there's a small minority of people who think there's a small minority of people who think it's real

In other news, their twitter feed is amusing.

This is subaru's clever marketing scheme.
Ok. The 2011mediocrity.com URL maps to subaru.com. I am kind of surprised that it would be a Kia Optima. I would have tried to "blandinate" a Subaru or build something up from scratch.

I guess using a Kia Optima was the cheapest method. It's such a generic looking car that I doubt the vast majority of people recognize it, which illustrates their point

I thought it was a Mitsubishi Galant, but.... anyways, I think this marketing campaign has backfired a bit for Subaru, at least by judging from half of the comments on their facebook page which mostly go "I wish that was a real car, I would buy it!" Personally, I think Subaru (the new ones) has gone downhill in every way. The Outback looks like a Lexus, gets abysmal fuel economy and is automatic only.

If I were in the market for a new car, and the Mediocrity was Japanese/German/possibly American built, I'd buy one.
