Car with scion xb cargo room but better mpg?

I looking for a car that has the box like cargo room of the first gen scion XB. Are there any non hybrid cars that have the same or more cargo room that get better hwy mpg? It needs to be a hatch back with a rear opening the size of xb. I know the boxy front end of the xb hurts its hwy mpg.

The scion is a little brick. Any modern minivan should do better and have more room.

Not true at all. The gen 1 xb gets much better mpg than any minivan. It only weighs 2400 lbs and based on the Toyota Echo. Many non hypermilers have achieved 40 mpg hwy with them

Reshape the front and back of the XB to gain mileage, they’re already a fantastic little toaster
