Carbon monoxide is bad mmmmk
Carbon monoxide is a one carbon and one oxygen.
Obviously it's poisonous, its chemical bond to your hemoglobin something like 600x than oxygen. Once it's there it's stuck for a while.
CO has a triple covalent electron bond holding it together, this is a very high energy, very unstable bond.
Just go look how common triple covalent electron bonded compounds are known.
Apparently boilers and internal combustion have more in common than meets the eye.

So I didn't know if you burned a pound of carbon to carbon monoxide you lost 2/3 of your heat, so that triple covalent electron bond carries away a lot of energy with it when you make CO vs CO2.
CO will turn into CO2 on its own, I think the half life of CO is like 20 or 24 hours, but it creates ozone when it does.
So incomplete combination is bad, bad bad all the way around.
