As I think about the bodies you could put on that composite pan, I'm drawn to a TypeI/Type III hybrid (found on vwspirit.ch, thanks!)
But of course it would be hard to go wrong with the Volkhart-Saggita
And KERS via Protean Energy inwheel motors in front.

1/6 scale model progress
I have worked on the 1/6 scale New Style VW model, getting it ready to make a Silicone mold from, so I can pour some foam bodies to modify. I have done a passenger side mirror delete so the mold will come off easier and plugged the wheel wells. The molding Silicone is back-ordered so I don't know when it will get here, oh well!

Back on topic!
They used to do 1/2 clay models against a mirror. Half the work; and if your just picking dimensions off it to scale up anyway, just invert the cross axis.

A neighbor, who did investment casting, used tubes of GE 100% silicone gutter sealant,thinned/reduced,with a solvent, and got void-free,perfect surface fidelity for his jewelry projects.
He backed up the silicone with plaster of Paris.
It might serve as an alternative.

Thanks, I was thinking of that, but the molding materials arrived today.

I used to make 1/4 and 1/1 scale clays and also wood/bondo and also fiberglass prototypes. I could never do the half/half thing because when the purpose of these things is to show proposals to executives who completely lack the ability to imagine how drawings and models translate to final product, the proposals had to be as representative of the final product as possible- even down to having paint and decals- even if it was a colossal waste of time and energy.

Tell me about it. When you walk new owners through a house that's still in rough framing, they don't get it until the sheet rock is hung...and sometimes until when the carpeting is down.
Put the silcone mix in a vacuum bell jar to remove the bubbles before you pour it into the mold.

I have a stash of 0.35" aluminum honeycomb to work with. I plan some projects using cut and fold methods to scale up paper models. CNC is nice but a steady hand with a few power tools works for the single project.
