The only way petrol stations could get away with artificially high prices is if they were all colluding.

The 4am gas station breakfast meetings are well known Around here, now that we have internet it’s thankfully much easier to fix prices in private.
It’s also easier to set prices when an area has only one distributor and punitive state level price protection policies against setting prices below other local stations.
Thankfully I’m a “critical employee “ and can fill up on my way to or from work 20 miles away and cut my fuel bill by a 1/3.
I’m guessing that extra 20 miles justifies the 70 cent price premium right?

I had to look it up since I don't follow the news. Not sure what this has to do with the topic:
"Shkreli, 34, was convicted of two counts of securities fraud relating to charges that he lied to investors while sweet-talking them into pumping more capital into his failing hedge funds, and one count of conspiracy."
Anyhow, I know all the econmists get it, which is why I refer to those experts often.

Gas station was sold out of E15 & E85, had to get E10 at $1.25. 30 mpg on a E40ish blend is still pretty good with the Impala. I'm terrible about topping off so the Indicated 29.3 is probably closer.
(Edit had blends sold out wrong, back in stock today, E15 $1.149)

Crude oil is negative, -$37 a barrel. Futures, overproduction and nowhere to store it.
This can't stay like that for long, we may get some big spills soon otherwise.
Cheapest gas is €1.409 a liter (about $5.80 a gallon) around here. That is a full cent less than when I filled up a couple of weeks ago and 2 cents less than last month. Oh horror.

I filled up with E0 fuel a couple of days ago for $0.979 cents/litre at my usual petrol station.
E10 was even cheaper.

Gas is $2.129 in Show Low, but $2.059 at the car wash if you pay cash.
Let me know when I can fill up for $20.

You can fill up a Prius for $20 unless you coasted in on fumes.

Until I bought my Accord, the furthest that I ever went on a tank was 60.2 miles in my first car, a 1987 Honda Prelude Si.
I ran out of gas on the highway and coasted into the station.
I drove that car 75,000 miles in 4 years and that was the only time that I broke 40 MPG.
Where were you guys back then?!
I have had four 40+ MPG tanks in my Accord in 42,230.8 miles, so I expect 3 more 40+ MPG tanks before I hit 75,000 miles.
There is one gas station in the Phoenix area with gas for $1.659.
I am unsure that I have ever seen gas cheaper in the valley than Show Low. Millions of people live in the area and there are only ten stations cheaper than $1.899, which is the cheapest gas anywhere near where I usually go.
24¢ cheaper in the city that shouldn't exist, a monument to man's arrogance.
The average is $2.249, though. It fell 41¢ in the last month, 80¢ in 5 months, and almost $1 since 5/6.
It hit $3.93 around Xistday, 2012.
What was that in 2020 dollars?
