Chevy 4!

Hi, all.
I've heard of a chevy 4 (in a boat,) for sale. As I understand it is half of a v8, perhaps in the 283, 350 range. A bit wasteful, cylinders spaced farther apart than necessary for a 4, BUT uses all hot rod parts from the v8, maybe even the crank. negotiating price $600.
I will act as go between if interested. I would like the boat for a Isuzu diesel I have.
motor is in norther Arizona but can deliver to the mid west.

Look into the 2.5L Iron duke... I think it may be related to the engine that you are talking about.

Apparently the Chevy 4 is a sawed off Straight six. I think it's the Iron duke that is closely related to the small block V8s.

The iron duke is derived from (half of) the pontiac 302. The iron duke boat motor was made by mercury or mercruiser (something with an M) but was stroked to 3L. It's a rare but sought after mod for the duke in S10s to put that crank in with a fun cam for a big, high power 4 banger.

I used to have an S10 with the duke hence that bit of useless knowledge

Yeah I live near the ocean and a lot of rivers so there are tons of old boats around here and I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a Merc 3 liter for a while now. I don't need a race truck but it would be nice to be able to keep up with traffic a little easier.
