They seem to have gone UP in price lately.

I'm not interested in one of these thinly disguised minivans* unless they are under 10 K.

*1990s minivans were only around 3" taller than this "car" is.
Yep +$4000 on used Bolts it appears

But brand new could be had for $19,900 up through last month

Odd how this is playing out.

Gotta wonder if Chevy pulled the ol export them trick that Nissan does with Leafs

Used car prices are up 30% across the board right now. There is a pretty severe shortage of new cars due to COVID shutdowns, chip shortages, and other part shortages. Automakers are having a hard time keeping assembly lines running and new cars in stock. Toyota is down to only 19 days inventory on average and some popular models are 9 days. The industry as a whole is down to 35 days inventory which is half of normal.

That combined with better than expected new car sales last year and strong demand this year means prices are way up. You have people with money to spend chasing a limited supply of vehicles. Basic supply and demand.

A quick look at KBB shows my 2014 TDI is worth more today with 60K miles than what I paid in 2018 with 33K miles.

Caravan is offering $15,283 for it. I paid $14k out the door in July 2018.

Weird GMs recall efforts failed, fixed Bolts still flamed, but used Bolts are even more expensive than ever.

Not sure if the new new fix does much.

Very sad I didn’t buy a $9999 used Bolt mid pandemic

Also haven’t heard if the retroactive EV tax break is still in play.

Bolt prices peaked 3 weeks ago and are just slightly in decline now.

The very first battery recall was for early '17 model year Bolts, and a software update looked for defective batteries and alerted GM to replace them before stranding the owner.

The second recall in November was for '17-'19 model year Bolts and reduced the max charge to 90% as a precaution while the "final remedy" was engineered.

The third recall was the "final remedy" which restored 100% charging ability and supposedly would identify a defective battery and stop the vehicle from operating if that condition was present. 2 Bolts from model year 2019 that have had this final remedy applied have caught fire prompting GM to recommend people move their vehicles outside after charging, and to keep the battery between 30-80% state of charge.
