I have a Monday-Wednesday-Friday class that never meets on Friday, we do an on-line module instead. We needed to watch
"Smile Pinki" and
, two videos about a girl in India that received free cleft palate reconstructive surgery, and I am answering the three questions for our "reflection paper."
I love talking about my feelings...
Some of the questions are better than others. For the third one, I just wanted to ask people if there is any reason to not pursue corrective surgery. There seem to be pros and cons of everything, but I cannot find anything against the surgery, or suggesting anything else. In the U.S. and in many other places, if the family cannot afford surgery, they should be able to find someone that will do it for free.
Is there any reason for a parent to decide against having a surgeon repair their child's cleft palate?
Thank you very much!
