Maybe if GM rebadged the Opel Astra as a Chevy back there, just like it was done in South America, would have a better product to the segment.

Re: this whole ignition switch thing: it reminds me of the Toyota accelerator debacle in that I think most if not all the mishaps were more the result of inept drivers panicking than the actual "bad" part. We all know you can turn the key off and not crash into a wall in a ball of flames as a result.
Also, I guess ignition switches should designed to function with keychains that have 5 lbs of crap hanging off 'em.
