Color opinions: Car Engine brackets

What color do you think looks best for engine brackets? I will be using black as well as whatever "we" decide for the main color. The transmission and engine are aluminum so there will be an aluminum silver color as well.

If you're working on a John Deere...

'Black makes it disappear.' Else, 'fake chrome' powder coat.

I just realized I didn't mention I would be using this for my car.

Here are some pics in the day light. Taken on the hood of the car.

freebeard, do you mean like the center caps from my Civic thread?

Powder coat on right, original chrome on left

Engine bays get dark quickly IMO. Black certainly makes things disappear. I would go for a lighter color. Racing blue would be better than green IMO.

If you can find a color that would look good while matching or complimenting your car's exterior color, I'd go for it, but otherwise I'd use a chrome powdercoat (if you plan on keeping the engine bay clean) otherwise I'd probably go with black. But I'm a bit more of a boring person in terms of my opinion on looks so don't mind me. :D

Yes, but I didn't know powder coat fills dents.

M_a_t_t 09-27-2020 03:43 PM

It doesn't. The right one only has the rust issue. The left one is clean, but has those dents in the face of it.

freebeard 09-27-2020 04:52 PM

That was the joke. :)

I suspect you could bump dents and fill with lead and then powder coat would hide the work.

You can still buy body lead?? I thought everyone used a bondo style compound
