Hypermilling with a new car with Automatic

OK The problem seems to be newer cars seem programed to hold a high idle with rolling and placed in neural...

Mine stays at around 1500 RPMs every time I am going say 65 and shift it into neutal...

Is there any fix or cure??

Possibly done to protect the drive train from shock when you re-engage. Bummer.

Mine is a 2000 Mercury GM with the 4.6 motor, but it happens to a lot of cars.
