Talking

Oh, this looks awesome. I'm planning to ride the scooter from school (Champaign, IL) to my family's house (Pearl City, IL) that weekend. Madison is just an other 2 hours. Maybe I will make a day trip on Saturday.

I come from a family of MPG-enthusiasts. So, I'm going to need some help choosing which car to bring.

Choices:
1) 1986 Honda Elite 250.
2) 2006 VW Jetta TDI
3) if Dad is feeling nice: 1967 Mercedes 230SL

Does anyone know if motorcycles are allowed in the MPG challenge? Are any ecomodders doing the contest?

I will be doing it. I am not sure if motorcycles are allowed, but I believe registration for it closed last friday, according to eric. Hopefully he can chime in in this thread if I am wrong.

Argh. I wonder if they'd entertain a plea for late registration. After all, I didn't own a running motorcycle last Friday, so I couldn't have registered, right? (It runs great now, though!)

There is another motorcycle currently registered in the competition, so, yes, motocycles are allowed.

Unfortunately, as SVOboy pointed out, we have reached the maximum number of entrants fir the MPG Challenge.

This doesn't preclude you from registering as a member and putting your name on the waiting list, though.

When you register as a member, simply note in the comments that you'd like to be placed on the waiting list for the MPG Challenge. (Sometimes we have cancellations, which then open up slots for people on the waiting list.)

You'll still need to show up for the driver's check-in at 12:15 pm, and be ready for the driver's meeting at 12:30 pm on Friday.

Even if a slot doesn't open up for you, I am sure you'll have fun as a member hanging out with others from ecomodder.com and other great "green car" sites.

There is plenty of things to do all weekend long. Just look at the activities page, and the Become a Member to see what I mean.

Anyway, hope to see you there and feel free to call me at 608-729-4082 if you have any questions.

In Madison with Mike (basjoos). Been a rough day and we need to get up early, so we're turning in now.

MPG Challenge was today, it was raining so we got hit on the numbers, but not too bad. Mike got 62 mpg and I got 65, which allowed me to win the category since it was based on percent over epa.

Who all will be showing up? Come check out our booth!

It was good to meet Ben and Mike in person, and to have Mike take delivery of his D15Z1 (VX) motor.

I think Ben should help Mike have a demonstration on how to swap motors as a presentation Sunday, lol.
