Sadly, that is very common with so many vehicles. I had 2 Vauxhall Victors in high school. Since they were "durn foreign cars" a lot of Borgwards, Simcas, and Vauxhalls vanished. "Muscle Cars" were the big thing in my area at the time more sensible cars disappeared.
A lot of Mercedes, Peugot, and Volkswagon 3-wheelers never made it to the US. Twike, City-el, and a few velomobiles made it but were not even allowed to become popular.
But in 50 years more efficient vehicles have hung on, so hopefully more model vehicles will be offered now.
