Competition Fuel?
Does anyone sell cheater fuel? I imagine race gas will deliver less economy. Gas Knowledge.com is a start.

Running higher octane fuel than what your engine needs will absolutely hurt your fuel mileage, and can cause some serous mechanical damage as well.
The effect is similar to retarding your ignition timing by a significant amount and the late burning in the exhaust will raise the EGT, possibly damaging your exhaust system and burning your exhaust valves in the process.
It is possible to compensate by advancing the spark timing to avoid serious damage, but that will not prevent the loss in fuel economy.
Race fuel often contains lubricants that will contaminate both the O2 sensors and the catalyst.
For best efficiency you should run the lowest octane fuel that you can get away with, and avoid Ethanol when possible.

Acetone?
Anyone ever try adding small quantities of acetone at 1:3000.
.
Acetone In Fuel Said to Increase Mileage
.
I also saw another post that said it had to be "A.C. acetone" from a beauty supply as that which is sold in hardware stores is blended with something to keep you from making bombs with it even though it still says it is 100%.

lol. No what that person told you about hardware store acetone is wrong.
The beauty supply stuff is what has the impurities because pure acetone is very hard on the skin and women don't like the strong smell.
Acetone in small amounts has a similar effect to lowering your fuel octane, so in situations where you are running too much octane for conditions (quite common), or you otherwise have poor fuel vaporization or slow burn rate, then the acetone will help.
Newer vehicles with MPFI and already running 87 octane will normally see very little benefit, and it may not be measurable, or worth the trouble to add.
In older vehicles with a carburetor or TBI, you may notice a significant improvement in mileage, especially during cold running.

I guess the first step would be to find something without ethanol. AV gas? Marine gas? All of the pump gas in my area is labeled E10.

A guy at work told me about the acetone thing last week. His daughter works in a beauty parlor and says he gets it from her by the gallon. Says a very small amount to a tank, get's his late model cobalt (about 3 years old) a marked increase in economy. I forget the numbrs, but, it was quite drastic.

The nice thing is, if the recommended mixture ratio is 1:3000, the feds can never make us stop. A gallon of acetone would last me 4 years.
