EVs win at 2015 race

First and second place in the 2015 Pikes Peak Hill Climb went to EVs.

Rhys Millen wins Pikes Peak under all-electric power

The major remaining impediment to near-complete domination of such events is battery weight... no surprise there. Maybe graphine one day?

An interesting result. Apparently the gas cars lose performance from the altitude faster than they lose weight from the fuel consumed.

And it is interesting to think about the future of this sort of racing and what it will yield in terms of engineering and innovation. Then there is just the bragging part: I showed the below video to my 13 year old daughter the other day because she was talking up the Audi super cars (fast and expensive draws her attention).

Where were the big boys, then? Loeb set a low-eight time back in 2013 on gasoline.

Still, impressive, considering Millen's best time ever was only fives seconds faster than his winning time this year.
