They are cool to look at. But appear to be not much more than vans. What capacity for food storage, water and propane? What payload? Without that info "RV" is really up in the air.

Coolest motorhome ever (as "RV" includes sailboats, jetskis and ATVs) would be the mid-1970's FMC. A diesel V8/6-speed auto transplant is all this rear engine pusher needs as to vehicle spec. Fully independent suspension, and all the amenities that make for independent living on the road.



Note the roofline, both the shape and how clean it is. And that the A/C system is integral to the coach instead of relying on separate roof units. But be aware that this also cost well more than the average house when new.

I see a huge canvas on wheels with that first pic Frank. I love the rat rod look, but it could use some additional attention.
Is it lowered, or is that stance factory ? I love the covered wheels on all sides.

I followed the link and have to wonder why you didn't choose this one to post :

A little trip strip along the roofline in back and you have one of the most aero RVs out there !

- What is with the steering wheel in a table idea going on here ? Where is the captains chair ?

If you know how big a Saab 92 is you'll know these are going to be about the size of VW Multivan. They were built for Europe where you'll never be more than a day from supplies. A 30+ft bus is totally uncool in Europe.

Hard to think of anything cooler than travelling the country in your own, self built 'motor caravan'. On an Eco forum, the only 'cool' RV is a camper trailer on the back of a bicycle. It could have a solar panel and electric motor so it would be energy neutral for the rider to tow.

It's hand built by the original owner, so it's 'factory' in a way. The driving position is odd, but it's built on a fwd car chassis, so it probably wasn't easy to package everything.

I read that they got out because their mechanics didn't like working on kitchen appliances.

The Lucra racer in my post is a GMC. Their goal was to break a record at 108mph, but around the time they were trying someone in Germany with a new Mercedes Benz class C motorhome pushed it up to 132mph and put them out of contention.
