CRX HF Questions

A guy wants 800 bucks for a CRX that has a valve problem, which he describes as:

91 crx hf. red. only problem is 1 of the valves is locked down. you can contact me at 256 566 **** for more information

I will call the guy and ask what he is talking about, what does the original CRX hf engine have that the regular CRX doesn't. Also, is 800 good for the car? (assuming it is in decent condition.

It doesn't have, it lacks! Also, 800 is prolly a good buy, but offer 500.

Oh I must have rearranged the order, what all does the HF lack? Do you think that a straight trade for my Geo Metro would be good? (93 5speed 1.0)

I honestly don't know what a geo is worth, but compared to a crx I wouldn't want one

Furthermore, it doesn't lack anything besides power, really

haha yeah, but I like to bring steak and BBQ in the back. The CRX doesn't have as much room.

EDIT: Vegan joke.

I bet a mobster could fit 4-5 corpses back there though. Surprisingly roomy.

CRX HF has a 62HP 8 valve engine. If he says there's a valve problem, and you want to keep the HF engine (probably a requirement, since you drive a Metro), offer him $300-500, depending on the condition of the body and scrap prices in your area.

Your Metro, if in good condition (Think rust), is worth more than the Honda.

Honda CRX's have plenty of room in them, though. And they're 2 seaters, JDM optioned backseat you can find on eBay once in awhile. Replicas you can find alot, but you can't fit two full size adults back there... more like 2 13 year olds.

The HF's engine and gears are matched so that you're in a very efficient area of the engine at around 60 MPH in 5th gear. With good driving technique, you can probably get near what SVOboy is getting. 50 isn't hard, 60 isn't unheard of.

There is no rear swaybar, that was an Si option only. Rear wiper, not on the HF. No rear disc brakes, also Si only. The catalytic converter is under the hood, rather than under the car.

So to recap - SOHC, 62 HP, D15B6, 8 Valve, 5MT, sweet little ride with excellent numbers both highway and city.

Frankly, it's not worth what your Geo is worth, but that's more a matter of opinion to the person making the deal.

If you end up needing it, I have an HF head in the barn.
