CRX HF tranny and climbing

I have driven every type of CRX. I prefer the HF gears for highway driving for obvious reasons. I have driven my DX all over the country. I have never taken the HF very far from flat Florida. Does anyone here know how well the HF tranny handles steep hills and mountain driving? My DX handled it no problem last trip out but the gears on the HF are so tall that I am a bit concerned how it will do.

I took my HF over the rockies, twice when the engine had low compression and was burning a ton of oil, with three people in the two seater car we used 4th gear for a bit on parts of the long grade, but that is the nice thing about the HF, you can down shift if you want!

Yes I know I can down shift. I was just concerned that I might have to use third alot and deal with the revs being really high. If you say you no trouble with the Rockies then Im sure it will do fine. Thanks Ryland.

You also need to look at where the CRX HF has it's torque, as long as the exhaust and intake are stock it has a ton of low end torque and has plenty of power at 1,500 to 2,000 RPM to clime hills, where the CRX DX is tuned to rev up higher and is pretty gutless at lower revs.
