CRXFi - $3000

That's right folks - I never even got around to using her much. Life Ch-ch-ch-changes.

Here's the car and her story.

She's got a rock solid, rust free 88 CRX HF Shell with a totally rebuilt 92 XFi motor, custom solid mounted. It's soundly mounted, but as a result can be a bit ...soundly. I'd try to incorporate rubber mounts if I did the project again.

Most questions can be answered in the thread about her voyage into being, but I'll answer any others completely honestly.

Briefly though:
-1 of a kind car
-Custom exhaust pipe from manifold down to stock center pipe
-Customized Metro shift linkage
-Custom motor mounts
-Successful splicing of CRX wiring harness
-Battery moved to rear
-Metro axles miraculously fit CRX HF splines perfectly, so stock left axle, using late 90s automatic metro axle for right side (slightly longer than 5spd metros)
-Lots of Si parts (front hood, bumper, fenders, center console, climate control, door skins, rear cargo box)

$3000. Comes with a working MPGuino.

It's doable and not entirely unpleasant, but just not preferable... which I guess depending on how you look at it could be a good attribute to have in a car. I however would like at least to have a comfortable ride where I can hear another person talking well if I do use a car. I've been driving it "normal" to get a good mileage baseline, but I also haven't done the best documentation job due to the lessened priority of cars. I'll sell it to anyone for $1500 btw. I put a lot of work into it and the body is VERY clean. I'm readying myself for a reduction in projects and a new chapter of life. I still love hypermiling and fuel economy competitions, but I've rearranged my priorities as of late and have gotten far more into food and started a blog. Keep on truckin' y'all.

For me? The asking price. I looked at the running price for XFis and HFs in not brilliant shape that weren't long, difficult one of a kind projects. Decided to assess the car with some more dignity and credit.

Good eye btw. I didn't remember it burned some oil (wasn't a lot, but noticeable) but I definitely rebuilt the engine carefully. Hopefully it just cakes up a bit and goes away. Negotiable if you're in the market..are you in the market?

I'm not especially in the market. But I read the whole build thread for the fun of it. It sounds like quite the adventure. Good luck with the sale

Bump! - still here, but my zest for the sale has increased again. Just drove it around for a while, felt significantly more powerful than my assist-less gen1 insight.

can't find any pics on the thread..

i went through 20+ pages

Ah, bummer, they must have expired. Here are a few I had around. I still haven't had the chance to take any explicitly for this sale :/ I'm finishing up my job in preparation for a big move, so I'll probably have some more time after I finish my current job. Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase.

haha!

thx for sharing, that's a awesome swap.
I've contemplated doing a 1.0l diesel swap into a crx that'd be interesting
as well...

what's your conclusion on the g10/crx swap?

I'd do it again, officer! It was quite a trip, and I learned a hell of a lot about how cars work. I might buy a complete shell that has paneling in it, and make sure to use rubber dampers in every motor mount. 2 of 3 motor mounts are direct to the frame (btw the engine is still removable and there were certainly no direct welds to the block or trans), so it's a little louder than the damn-near silence most people are used to now, including me. It's still great fun to drive, and certainly not a noise box. It's a pared down point A to B mileage machine, just a little rough around the edges. I'd liken it to Linux: You have to know what's going on to appreciate it, otherwise you'd probably hate it because it doesn't afford the creature comforts most people are used to now. If you are a Linux user, you should probably buy this car.

i'm more of a ubuntu user myself but i digress.

:)

hm that's odd the mpg isn't better,i got consistent 50's in my hf with the stock b6 with ~300k on the clock.

what gives?
