Petrol can sit in a sealed container for years and combust properly enough. Diesel can sit practically forever.

During the gas crisis in the 70's , stations would limit you to 10 gallons.
or so I'm told. I wasn't driving then.

Wow, seems like moving to a fuel that everyone has access to from their own home would be more efficient and convenient...

Which 70's gas crisis? All sorts of rationing plans, gimmicks, and black market stuff going on in both. I could buy all the fuel I wanted at twice the price and a friend whose license plate "ODD" (his first name) was an even day buyer.
Once you left the panic buying cities, there was all the fuel you could load at the normal price.

Some on the Chevy Bolt forum are feeling smug that they can drive during this gas shortage.
The thing is, this is in the news because it's so rare, not because it happens all the time. I've never lost access to petrol. The ice storm took out electricity, which took out most petrol stations because they couldn't pump the fuel, but a couple stations had backup generators and remained opened.
I lose electricity every year for at least a few minutes, and sometimes for a week or 2. It seems way less reliable than access to petrol.
...and I've never lost natural gas.

Did you ever install the LPG-NG carburetor on your generator?

Power was restored the day we received the carb, so I just gave the borrowed generator back to dad. My dad installed it on his generator but hasn't tried it yet. It required some extra hoses or fittings I believe.
...and my dad ordered a PTO genset that outputs 240v. We better get into the generator rental business with how quickly we're accumulating them.
I'm going to make my parents watch that hoarding show.
