Question D15z1 help!!

I'm in the middle of swapping a D15Z1 into my 95 VX and I was wondering if I absolutely need an EGR Control Box? Is there any way I can run without the box? If I have to have the Control Box then can anyone help me with wiring the control box?

It is a vx right. Where did the old wires go? The vxs had the wireing as they came with the box mounted to the firewall. I'll look and possibly take a pic.
