Red face D15Z1 swap

Hello, I have searched the forum and did find some usable information, but i had so more specific questions to ask.

I have a 1990 civic, and purchased a 92-95 VTEC-E d15b engine from japan, also an OEM us engine harness, and an A00 ECU.

Right now i am still trying to source a VX exhaust manifold, cat and downpipe.

Has anyone done this swap into an EF that would know any unique challenges that i will face? I am certain i would have to have to wiring for the VTEC solenoid and O2 sensors go to the right ECU pins.

I also have an 88 HF transmission, but i read something where someone said an 88 would not bolt up to all D series engines?

Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: Does anyone have a good source for VX exhaust manifold with cat and downpipes? I am guessing i need a CA specific one.

The 88 transmission will likely have a different number of splines on the input shaft than the other D-series transmissions. So you'll need the clutch that goes with those. I think the clutch disk might be a different size as well? I'm less sure on that. There is, however, a combination of parts that work to fit an 88 D-series trans on an 89 or later D-series motor.

The Honda crowd has folks that know this stuff inside-out. Mista Bone (shows up here sometimes) knows just about everything that is possible to know about D-series trannies. You can also search for posts on the subject on crxcommunity.com ; I know it has been discussed there before.
