Daily gas mileage blab thread

So today I kicked butt. On the way up to NYC I get a solid 73.5 mpg. I was getting over 75 before the lincoln tunnel, but the traffic dragged me down.

Way home was a little bit worse at 66 mpg.

How's everyone else doing?

SVOboy -

Warm LA temps got me to about 63+ MPG on the way to work at the 710 South/105 West interchange. But, I need at least 66 MPG at that point to even think of going for my "record", and I usually need a :turtle: to follow for that last stretch because it has some excruciatingly gentle uphills that manage to rob MPG.

Nary a :turtle: to be found, so I finished at about 59+ MPG.

Still looks pretty good compared to the 30 day,

I hit the road between thunder storms. But, it was the beginning of the afternoon rush hour. The drive was about 46 mostly highway miles with about 8 miles of stop-n-go. The SGII reported 46.9 mpg for this trip. And 44.1 mpg for the tank so far.

I've only been getting 45-46 the last few days, after getting 49's last week when it was nice out. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, I hate it, haha.

Plus, I'm hearing some noise from my front driver's wheel, and after I blew the rear wheel bearing last weekend, I'm nervous that the fronts are on their way out as well.

Are there any mods in your future, tim?

McTimson 05-07-2009 10:04 PM

Absolutely - once I get some coroplast, a real grille block and rear wheel covers will be the first things to get made. I'd like to get some sort of cover for the back, when it rains, the middle of the back window has no water movement on it, so there's definitely separation back there.

I think doing a full tune up on it will be the first thing to get done, though. No point in getting 50MPG if it's going to fall apart in a month anyway.

On tonight's trip home, the SGII reported 50.2 mpg. Very little traffic = Yay!

Last Sunday, in the nice 75 degree weather, my 30 mile trip came out to 46.5 mpg on the scanguage. I'm pretty sure that's the best trip that it's ever read off and to think, it's not even summer yet!

The TPS is getting closer and closer to staying right at 21, which is between 45-50 mpg at 55 mph (my goal).

I've been pulling some solid 40's off the SG in midrange trips through suburbia - you know, where the speed limit is kinda technically super efficient highway speeds with limited traffic lights/stops :p

The heat is on in Central Florida, so a/c is dragging things down now.

I just did an oil change @ ~12,000 miles. A little longer than I usually do (~10K miles) but I'll be getting oil sample analysis to tell me if I did wrong :) Maybe that will bump me up slightly.

I'd be keeping up with my gaslog, but my refueling methods/schedule makes it a little too tedious for me :/
