That is egg-zactly my problem as well. Looking forward to your results. At least if they do fly off, "it's just cardboard", so no biggee.

You guys with alloy wheels can usually find steel wheels that match your offset/lug pattern on places like Craigslist or local junkyards, if you actually wanted to use hubcaps.

Cool idea, I was also thinking of doing something similar with a more durable material. Fiberglass reinforced plastic? That's available at Home Depot eh? I'll have to check that out.

PS, with painting them black...i'd watch out for high brake temperatures in the summer. Don't want to fry your brakes :P

Real ecomodders don't use brakes, so I don't think that's a problem

I've been thinking about doing the pizza pan covers, Google has some places that sell 13" ones for like $3 a piece, which is pretty cheap. Of course, cardboard is free, but I would think the pizza pans would be sturdier.

Wow... talk about resurrecting a thread.

Like I said, I didn't expect these to last for more than a week. Turns out they lasted about 4 days before it rained and warped them slightly. These were mediocre at best for testing purposes.
