One could, and I for one did

I'd prefer a genuine mister and only use that in conditions where it would do good (hot engine, constant speed on the highway f.i.) though.

I had an ancient 2-stroke moped with a small and heavily oxidized head. The harder it rained, the better it ran.

I was in process of building a water/methanol injection system for my other car to cool the intake charge on its supercharged engine but never got it all finished(engine failed under boost on extremely hot day), I have the tank and pump but no mist nozzle...

You got me thinking about water/methanol vapor again though... fill a heated jar with cheap washer fluid(cheap winter blend is just water and methanol), and insert an aquarium stone, and vent the jar to the intake...

I'd be quite concerned about water injection in a 2-stroke engine.
