The only evidence I need to back up the claim that Americans are taller, bigger and fatter than they used to be is when I go to Fenway Park and sit in the small wooden seats that were designed for the "average American" in the early 1900's.

Hey, if they want to tell my girlfriend she's a size 0 when she's really a "1950's size 5" based on today's standards...I'm all for it! Anything to make the little misses feel better about her waistline and avoid the dreaded question "does this outfit make me look fat"!

Thinner is better to curb global warming, study says - CNN.com

I remember the outrage, "Fat people are blamed for everything"

I remember the T-shirt, "Fat people are harder to kidnap."

I wonder if that's a good reason to start overeating and such... personal security, in knowing that if you weigh 500 lbs, it might take longer for someone to kidnap you, and the cops will probably find you before they manage to butter you up enough to slide in the van's barn doors?

Haha where is this thread going??? I guess if its being hijacked I'll have to go down with the ship.

My thoughts are that the 1.1 billion barrels of oil we use to haul our extra fat around is a massive amount. Aside from that, the problem with the people of today is that no one claims any personal responsibility for anything these days. Since everything is done through a third party or some such thing, people just shove the blame off to the person that did whatever for them.

"My kids are too fat. I blame McDonalds!" Wrong! Your kids are too fat because parents have lost the ability to teach their kids how to eat. Gummies are not a food group, people!!! The more this keeps up, the worse its going to get. The governments isn't doing anything to help, either. With all of these "fat taxes" and such flying about the assemblies it's just causing an outrage. People are so used to this lifestyle of excess that they'll keep spending more and more on these "fattening" foods. If you eat enough of most anything, you'll put on weight.

These kids are growing up spoiled and barely anyone is putting up the effort to change it. Mommy and daddy are always getting little Timmy what he wants because they can't stand to hear him cry. I may be 18 but I know that I'm not spoiled; I never was. My parents would tell me no and I understood that word. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! It has power and parents just don't understand it anymore.

Some girl at my school told me today that she has a Ford Mustang waiting for her. I was like "What, waiting?" Yeah, she doesn't even have her license... I personally couldn't have a car until I had a job because the only thing my parents did for me was take out the loan in their name. Once again, that idea of personal responsibility comes into play.

Now that I've ranted beyond belief about all sorts of barely related things...

P.S. - I told that girl her car was a piece of junk because, although it is nicer than mine, it is still a car with an inefficient engine and the aerodynamics of a big screen TV. My Cd is only .32

To which the honest man is tempted to answer "No, honey. You ARE fat." The prudent man will close his mouth after the second word.

I use my car to drive to a favorite walking trail. Oxymoron?

Obesity and consumption could be related, as small cars aren't appealing to big people. Altho, I did have a relative who liked the vw golf, he looked funny driving and the car leaned...I suppose to mention the rear end failure because he was that big...well. 30mpg just wasn't worth it. Hell, me at 140lbs and bizarre concept of what a car should handle has brought me to 17 of them. I stopped with a 1980s subaru 12 years ago.(the toughest on earth ). I have proven to myself fuel consumption has to do with integrity of drivers and demands, obesity or not. Anyway, Obesity is related to fuel consumption. Seems this question I have answered.
