Even if we don't colonize Mars, a hemispherical shape could be quite useful for specific purposes. Well, with a "green roof" covered by herbs instead of plain grass, would be an interesting option for a farm house, providing room (no pun intended) to grow some spices  |

The 'cell' constitutes three layers, two electrodes and the electrolyte encased within the structure so the outside surface is insulative for human contact (it won't electrocute you).
