It sucks.
I'm pretty sure below 45F I won't be able to make it to the big chain hardware store and back with my leaf and trailer with out stopping to charge.

Home depot and Rona have regular 120V 15A receptacles on their parking lot lights up here. The Coop found parking lot lights that don't have the courtesy receptacles :(

Maybe you'll have to browse for a bit longer to let the Leaf get enough charge?

With 120v power I would pick up around 1 mile per 15 to 20 minutes of charge in winter.
But I would need it.

This flirting with freezing temperatures has nearly cut my range by around 20%.
If I use the heater, even more.

Can you preheat on grid power to improve range?

If you plan your trips carefully, you can set the car to finish charging just before you depart to give you the longest range and warmest battery.

I used to set my Prius to finish charging just prior to departing. It had the ability to either begin charging at a set time, or to set the end of charging time and it would adjust when it began based on the end time.

Using the HVAC heater will drastically reduce range. Seat/steering wheel heaters take hardly any power at all.

I can clean, rearrange and relocate items in my garage and put the leaf in there with my coal furnace and do what I have always done with gas and diesel vehicles where I put a little electric space heater in the car and run it for a bit before driving.
I started doing this in 1998 when I moved to maine.

It helps. I preheat my Spark in the winter

I still have to run the electric resistance heater on defrost to keep the windshield free of fog. Our humid / rainy winters in Portland mandate the use of the heater instead of just using the heated seats and a jacket. In the winter defrosting the windshield consumes about 1/3 of my battery pack during my 50 mile / 90 minute commute (roundtrip)

I wish GM had installed a heat pump instead of the 5 kW resistance heater.

Looks like during cold weather I lose a minimum of 10% and a maximum of 25% range. But I use the least heat I can tolerate, i MUST use the defrost or the windshield fogs very badly.

I don't think im losing range but I do get horrendous sag when its below 70f. Enough to trip the low battery systems. I do prewarm the cab and batteries from house power.
