My beef is that for safety I wish to move at the speed of traffic or greater. Invariably, being constantly passed by faster moving traffic, the chances of frustrating other drivers into crazy behavior, and/or becoming an accident statistic, rises dramatically.
The freeway capable electric scoots I've seen (in NZ) have really poor design and really expensive...
Even the well made Yamaha Electric bikes
Yamaha's Folding Seated Electric Scooter : TreeHugger are not even capable of 30mph (i think)
I think Lee Icoca?? was invovled with a 2kw Tidalforce bicycle but something happened...
Last year due to high gas prices, scooter registrations rose dramatically in NZ and lots of people got on the bandwagon and set up shops. Then the media had all these stories about safety, traffic lights not working, ticketing of footpath parked bikes etc etc. Spraying water over wannabe scooter newbies
Now, scooters are hard to sell and the bottom has fallen out of the market.....
