Electrics spank ICE supercars and hypercars

Tesla Model S's have been stealthily entering drag strips and easily embarrass pony and muscles cars for years. The next performance level has moved the forced induction breathing sounds and screaming exhaust sounds from supercar/hypercar manufacturers to go into electric hybrids and full electrics with outstanding and phenomenal performance. I wouldn't call spending $100,000 to run in the 11's is "easily" beating some $30,000-$50,000 cars. I believe a new $60,000 C8 is going to "easily" beat the Model S performance in every measurable performance test except economy.

Still this is a cool time. I have heard the C8 has room left for both a battery pack and an electirc front drive motor coming down the road.

He has been doing this for years...

I love how his eyes are bugging-out as he drives the first laps alone... as if g-force is peeling back his eyelids, lol.

... I love it... but that McLaren was not far behind and ordinary billionaires can buy one today.

It is what it is, 10.5 1/4 mile is faster than last time I watched it was low 11's and he is modified. None of those were the new C8, which should be low 11's pure stock, and I'm sure with some better tires and a few tricks there will be a bunch in the low 10's in no time still well under $100,000. There are tons of cars out there much faster than 10.5 1/4 mile times for even $10,000 invested. A $100,000+ car running 10.5 is not really a big deal IMO.

Also the street racing ones show pure stupidity on all parts. I'd be really embarrassed to act like i'd done something winning a 100+mph race on the public streets.

Here are a bunch of $85,000 stock cars running quicker times.

Second video, what's with the launch advantage ? The original White Zombie always ran equal launch lights, and wiped out the competition. This was before the lighter weight Tesla cells/batteries were available.

I'm not sure what exactly you are talking about, but it's probably bracket racing. In bracket racing you mark a time on the window and they set the light delayed on the faster car so theoretically they both cross the finish line together. If you go faster than your marked time it's called a breakout and you lose, unless the other car also breakouts but by a larger margin. It doesn't effect the capability of the car or the numbers on the printout, it just makes for fun way to test drivers ability for reaction times and consistently of making a run. Bracket racing is a drivers competition, not so much a car competition.

Umm ... *NOT* bracket racing.

Well the 2nd tesla video from post #3, is that what you are talking about? I had only watched 20 secs of it because it is super stupid street racing. If there was any "delayed" starts it was because one driver gave the other a launch advantage meaning there would be no starter light, just one guy leaves whenever they want and the other guy has to wait and react to that first guy starting before they could leave. Maybe a 1/2 sec head start at best, but it can really hurt turbo cars as they may not have a chance to pre-spool the turbo.
