ELM 323 responds to AT commands

Hi,

I've had an ELM 323 for a couple of years but could not get my Macs to recognize the generic, serial interface. Then this evening, VMware on our Mac connected via hyperterm and I was able to see it respond. I need to test with Linux and if it works, I'm thinking about writing an XGAUGE compatible, interpreter.

I read over some of the other threads that mention the ELM chipset and fully understand the problem of the slow interface. The use of hex encoded text over 9600 baud does not bode well for dealing with an ISO9141 bus running at 10.4 kbaud. Still, I've got the hardware and it only needs what looks to be fairly straight forward software.

Thoughts?
