The Empire State does not like the EV rebel, Tesla.

The proposed New York bills-- Assembly A07844 and State Senate S05725 --amend the state's vehicle and traffic law, "in relation to automobile manufacturers and unfair practices by franchisors" would prevent Tesla, a manufacturer, from selling directly from them. New York state auto dealers are heavily backing to support this and make it illegal to license, renew licenses or OWN a Tesla in the state of New York.

This makes me so angry. You shouldn't be able to make someone's business model illegal just because you don't want to compete.

It would be interesting to see how an actual free-market economy would work. Maybe we should try one some time?

Sure, it makes sense- We loves our Apple stores, but we can't let direct sales threaten our campaign contributors!

One correction, though- the bills would make it illegal to license (or renew) a Tesla store, and restrict new car sales to franchised dealers only. Now unless Tesla can get that thrown out they're going to have to join the dance and lease all their cars ordered by New Yorkers to Rent-A-Tesla. Rent-A-Tesla will slap plates on them, run the odometers a bit and return them to Tesla, which can then sell the shiny CPOVs to New Yorkers.

So we've got four choices:
-These bills fail or are thrown out.
-Honest Elon's Used Cars goes into action, and Albany bans used car sales coming in from out of state.
-Washington decides to regulate some interstate commerce.
-Albany comes to its senses.

I think folks will be shopping at Honest Elon's, because the legislators are Insaaaane!
