I prefer engines with longer strokes for better torque. I think the old 225 slant 6 was 3.5 inch bore and 4.5 inch stroke.

If I had to change one thing I would go for a slightly smaller flat slide carb.
And tuned inlet towards longer.
And opening up valve clearance for less overlap ...
And raising CR ...

Oups, that's way more than one ...

(Heavier flywheel does not rank in the easy mods)
