Environmentally friendly EPA approved fuel can spout

When they work they suck. Unless you are filling up a tiny gas tank like on a chain saw or weedeater.
Then they are just ok.
I had some that were 2 years old on my 5 gallon gas can and 1 gallon 2 stroke gas can.
I was filling up my riding lawn mower with the EPA approved fill spout, seemed to be working fine. Then as the tank became full I allowed the spill prof spout to close as I lifted away from the gas tank and a plastic tab broke and the spring shot the end of the spout off, leaving the open gas tank to spill all over the mower and some on my self.
Fixed that with a "pre1996" gas spout and I'll be sure to only fill it up about 4 to 4.5 gallons.

Then my saw and weed eater gas can it was sitting there looked perfectly fine, lifted it up and tilted it to the fuel tank and the whole spout broke off. Dumped gas all over the weed eater.
I put another EPA approved gas spout on it because it's handy for filling really small tanks like on a chain saw.

Note this didn't happen on the same day. The saw gas can spout broke off earlier this year and the 5 gallon spout flew apart thus weekend.

I hate all of them. Try to find used cans in good shape pre epa spouts. I have 4 cans 2 2 gallon and 2 1 gallon. They serve me well enough since I donít have a riding mower and donít need one. One stays in my car and it was a new old stock can. Itís possible to buy new spouts for them that are non epa but have had problems with leaking because canít get a good seal to the can.

I just took the spring and flapper valve out of my EPA spout. It works fine now.

Even though it makes sense to enforce evaporative emission controls in a motor vehicle, doing such regarding a gas can is too far.

I've got several old plastic 5 gallon cans which have the caps that have the removable center where you can put the free flowing spout and when finished filling the tank just reverse it. They're still available here for $10-15 and is what I'll use until I'm forced to use something else. I think I have about seven 5gal. and one 2.5 gal. which will probably last me the rest of my days. Another place government is sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.

That's the good thing about diesel, hardly any evap emissions.

True but it is hard to find a diesel walk-behind mower, line trimmer, outboard, chainsaw, etc.

The only gas powered items I have remaining are the mower and outboard. The boat was going to be sold this spring. (I doubt there is much of a market at the moment) and I've looked into converting the mower to propane.

Some of those generic small stationary engines can be quite easily converted to Diesel, as many of them often share the block with Diesel ones.
