No reason not to think it's an AS (Airstream). A separate division selling trailers to spec avoiding aluminum in the otherwise labor intensive end cap is consistent with the later "budget" Argosy line from the 1970s.
Ups the value considerably. As you're in California, even more so.
If the trailer is going to sit, then stick with leaf spring. Especially if the axles are set as in the picture. A roadgoing trailer would need to be dropped considerably, and real surgery done. That's a top heavy mother.
