It strikes me that there are 2 ways of recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted in the exhaust. you can use a "bottoming cycle", to further expand the pressurised exhaust gas, in doing this the temperature will drop too. Then, you can just recover the heat energy and raise steam, run a stirling, or thermocouple, TEC's etc without utilising a pressure drop.
Then, you could do both!
