extended roof rack

part of ecomod, in my own book, is how much work gets done for consumption. I decided to extend the roof rack to 5 feet 5.5 inches. this is the ground work, now a bit of imagination, and some old hacked up truck rack made of aluminum can piece in something custom for a removable full roof rack.
A funny note (to me) is, usually adding this length to the old sube wagons rails changed handling, the car stiffens. this car is so freakishly welded, I noticed absolutely nothing. even the front doors close with the same sound. some of you may know what I talking about.

this christmas it gets a class 2 hitch and a class1 receiver in the back, also freakishly overdone to handle it. I have hauled a complete engine in this, and had approx 400 pounds on the roof. the car is maybe 100 pounds heavier than oe, all done with new panels and carbon steel mig. Very worth the extra, its exponential return, like squaring a number.

now if my third inspection this friday goes well, it wil be a freakishly welded legal one.

You need to do the conversions and add electricity consumed in welding to your fuel logs.

It is ironic to mention. I plug in at a relatives house and inquired about increase of bills monthly. I was simply told "nothing to notice". I do keep the mig on a 12v output (low setting) for all but one chore.
the mig transformer is very much like larger pc power supply (my 3400 mhz is 6 bucks a month) It takes 115v winds up amps to 12v, I also wondered if keeping the car battery hooked up, as it is 12v, allowed for some recycle or usage from the dark side of the cars system. It is a possible, strange, but possible. I am welding the very ground the car is grounding to. in a pc it is called the 12volt negative, a pc finds it too...
A 230volt mig is a big user, as 230 is hypocrite, and crazy.
