Fiesta EcoBoost 1.0L Road Test

Good numbers were pulled by the 1L Fiesta. Upper 40s on the 65-70mph highways. Near 60 in ideal 2 lane highways. A good video from mpg-o-matic

....but, unfortunately, most OEM mpg-displays tend to overly optimistic.

Well with almost 27k miles on my 2011 Festa with the 6 speed automated manual, I have found the factory MPG display to be very close, about 3-4% optomistic. My last 4 tanks have been over 50 MPG.
Give me a 1.0 ecoboost (manual only in the US) and 45 MPG highway rating versus my 38 rating and I would average close to 55-60.
I would prefer the two door with manual windows and locks and a couple hundred ponds less weight.

regards
Mech

Well, that is better than GM Cruze 7% high and Toyota Prius 5% high.

My Buick Enclave with the direct injection is spot on the mileage display compared to calculating a tank. My Torque app is off a bit low. Maybe direct injection is more accurate on fuel flow and therefore more accurate on the display.

Nice to see they put a temp gauge on the 2014. My 2011 only has an idiot light. Best ever MPG in my 2011, which is not direct injection, was just over 62. Bet the ecoboost would do 70 under the same identical conditions, and that was 60-65 MPH in heavy traffic on I64 with unavoidable drafting.

Just build me a stripper two door hatch with out all the crap, and then get the owner to smash it up just enough to get it totalled .

regards
Mech
