I think I might be the only stock VW fan here. :D

I love my VWs (TDI) but I do not like the Bugs.

No. I also like stock ones more than some mods. Though if I were going to get one as a daily-driver I wouldn't object to some resto-mod in order to keep it up with modern levels of performance and fuel-efficiency but trying to keep the look as close to stock as possible.

Went to the Barrett Jackson car auction this year. A few good VW's for sale but this was over the top!!

:)

I've thought recently that if I could lash together a closed-loop EFI system that wasn't too obtrusive, that would be cool. And I think we're all believers in oil filters by now. But apart from that, I just love the look and feel of these cars as they were in the mid-60s.

What do you mean by closed-loop? Something like a TBI or the fumigation system used with gaseous fuels? Anyway, even though the old screen-type oil filter had been not so bad at all due to its low cost and long life, now a bypass oil filter is the rule in a good resto-mod.

Just something with an oxygen sensor. If memory serves, none of the early stock VW systems had one.
