Bring it to a mechanic and get it inspected, for anything and everything, codes, herky jerky, engine mounts, cat, lifetime mpg etc. Assume the battery pack is toast, and he has no idea how to deal with an IMA light (no big deal). Make a little fuss of it to see if you can get it for a little less. As long as it's mechanically sound and the transmission doesn't grind on down shifting in the lower gears, snap it up as fast as you can!
It could be gone in less than 24 hours. But don't buy it unless a mechanic looks at it first! A fuel efficient car won't save you money if it's unreliable or has hidden issues in need of repair.
