First kilokilo tank! 744miles no mods

Ok so its a diesel, but still in all my time on the forum I've never managed more than 1000km on a tank - granted my cars have either had tiny tanks or BIG engines but To break 744miles on a single 60litre tank was kinda cool! especially with no mods since I bought it 2 weeks ago - I haven't even checked the tyre pressures yet!

The other cool thing? the range to empty said it had another 73 miles to go!

My Sister-in-law who drives the Renaultsport 225bhp (2.0L turbo) hatchback version of this car couldn't believe that a Megane could go so far, especially when she struggles to get 350miles out a tank of super unleaded go-go juice.

Next target 800miles on one tank.

I know from the maths of 744+73= 817 it should be do able But:

1- I put over 55 litres in when I filled the car up. which means I about 1 IMPGal left which gives me about 57 miles IF I run the car dry.

2- You NEVER want to intentionally run a commonrail diesel dry!

(p.s. currently lead Renault in the Ecomodder diesel list, 3rd highest Frenchy too!)

Good going Rob

I've gotten over 1660km twice on 63 liters of diesel, but this was with aeromods. Now I put in around 58-60 liters after 1200-1500km. As you get to know the car better, and introduce a few mods, I'm sure you will regularly see 1200+ distances on the odo when filling up.

Try to find out if your Mégane will actually let you do that - or not.

Hägar supposedly had a system that completely cut out the fuel pump if you really drained it too low. So you couldn't run the fuel system empty.

I only ever got to test the first stage of it : reduced power due to reduced diesel injection to stretch the miles on whatever little is left of the juice.
