You sir have discovered traffic waves and how to correct them. I also call them traffic see-saw's because you are literally back and forth back and forth...

This is the thing that bugs me.... I work with many engineers and I can't convince them that driving an average speed, keeping your distance between you and the car in front you can acutally break up traffic jams, or at least to help them flow. They are too smart for their own good.

Hypermiling not only saves gas, it breaks up traffic jams. Now that's a bumper sticker material right there....
