Flat towing (1997 Chevy cavalier, 3-speed automatic?)

I currently have a 1997 Chevy cavalier, 3-speed automatic, EPA rated 24, and with various techniques from lurking for awhile am now averaging 31.2 with my ultragauge. I am starting to become interested in engine off coasting, and was wondering if I am able to, quick searching on the Internet says yes, but the sources are kind of shady. I was wondering if any of you had any reliable information.

The one posted in the sticky I cannot use because my car is a model year prior to 2001.
I just wanted to verify so I don't destroy my transmission.
