Flow-Cell battery technology in a sport-limousine

An interesting EV sports sedan, the Quant, will be unveiled at the 2014 Geneve Auto Show. The low slung design may be unique but the car will be introducing an entirely new energy storage system: nanoFLOWCELL drive. The energy system tech is still shrouded but it is probably similar to a vanadium redox battery; a rechargeable battery provided by two dissolved chemical components separated by a membrane, providing ion exchange.
nanoFLOWCELL®

Flow battery/redox cells, energy density may be lower then other portable batteries like Li-ion batteries, but is faster 'fuel up' or 'recharge' by draining and replacing chemicals.

Looks like a typical lead acid bat, but with external electrolyte reserves.

In a year and a half the nanoFlowCell Quantino managed to do 100.000 kilometers in traffic:

100,000 Kilometres in the QUANTiNO 48VOLT - 100% Electric, Flow Cell Power Without Compromise - nanoFlowcell AG

40 k miles a year. That is a lot in an EV.
But this one you can just fill up at the pump... the bi-electrolyte pump, that is.
Now those are scarce just yet. Good to have a 1000 km range, then.

While it looks good enough, they no longer are aiming for production. This is just a test bed for the technology they hope to license out.

It will get leased out to the oil companies then.
