Ford escape hybrid? (considering buying one)

What is everyone's opinion on the ford escape hybrid? I'm considering buying a used model from '05 to '08. The hybrid system looks very similar to the prius. Would all the tricks that work with the prius also work with the escape; such as stealth mode driving, p+g techniques, etc.

Ford's first gen hybrids are basically Toyota's HSD drivetrain based, so you can make it PHEV addon ready feat. 72mph EV mode hack, although for such big car it's better to plan it as mostly blended mode type of application, i.e. >100mpg: Plug-In Supply

PS choose the awd version, otherwise it's waste of money (SUV)
